The reigning WBC Super Flyweight World Champion Mariana Ju?rez, winner the prestigious "Female Fighter of the Year Award", has posed for the famous magazine "Playboy," as she is featured in Mexico's August 2012 issue.
The official presentation yesterday was a glamorous event with a smiley Mariana wearing a beautiful black cocktail dress.
The popular Mexican fighter posed for the cameras next to a giant poster of her cover in Playboy, in which she appears wearing pink boxing gloves, a hallmark of the female fighters in the sport of boxing.
"For me it's really an honor that this prestigious magazine have offered me the opportunity to appear photographed in its pages," said the gorgeous fighter.
Nevertheless, Mariana commented that being a Playboy model or appearing in telenovelas would not affect her performance in the ring.
?It has been much hard work to get where I am. I still have many goals to achieve in the sport of boxing. That's why I always prepare 100% for each fight and I look to retire possibly after two more years.?
In 2011, Mariana Ju?rez made a total of five successful world title defenses, being the most active female world champion in boxing.
This year 2012 she has already made three title defenses, being her last one a victory by points over tough Japanese challenger Shindo Go a few days ago in Ontario, California.
About her next fight, Mariana revealed that she has received several offers and will consider each of them along with her promoter, Dr. Fausto Garc?a, president of the well-known Mexican boxing promotions company Boxeo de Gala.
Even though Mariana, 32, has always been a flyweight (112 lbs) champion, her next combat might be against her Mexican compatriot, WBA Jr. Featherweight (122 lbs) World champion Jackie Nava. The fight could be for the WBC World Championship Diamond belt.
Nava is scheduled to face veteran ex champ Lisa "Bad News" Brown next month at Villa de Guadalupe in Baja California, M?xico.
