The joint global convention involving the Women International Boxing Association (WIBA) and the World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) which was originally scheduled to take place this October 21-25,2006, and to be hosted by the country through the Games and Amusements Board has been moved up to its final date on January 21-25,2007 early next year.

The timely decision has been collaborated and approved unanimously by Ryan Wissow, a Florida , USA based President of the WIBA and Mr.David Young of Shanghai and Wuhan , China who is the President of the WPBF. The reason having stemmed from the earlier super typhoons that hit the country which incurred damages to both lives and properties. And considering that the venue of this international professional boxing confab, however exotic and scenic attractions to the world but simply tropical and undeniably prone to any form of bad weather conditions beyond anybody's control.

On our part here in the Philippines, we are almost ready to handle such a big global event for the benefit and glory of our Filipino boxers. It is really seldom that our country plays host to such a prestigious major convention to be participated by three hundred (300) more or less foreign delegations to be coming from various parts of the globe. We are confident though we moved the time , but no changes as to the venues, preparations for security and protocol and all the lined-up day to day schedules are still intact. What is interesting to note here is the fact that our contacts and counterparts from Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya ,Africa , Chinese boxing afficionados and the Japanese allies in boxing and from different corners of the world are signifying strongly their unconditional interests to still come and to attend the January 21-25,2007 joint convention in Boracay. What a good lucky starter for the year 2007 for the professional boxing communities in the Philippines.

Chairman Eric R.Buhain welcomed the decision by saying "in moving the actual date of the WIBA-WPBF joint global convention means a clear springboard if not a show window for the November WBC world convention to be hosted also by the Philippines through this agency". Definitely, the projected "big bang" by January early in 2007 would signal the most needed interest by the would be participants to the biggest and prestigious WBC world affairs in the country in the last quarter of next year.

Another fantastic inclusion to the staging of this international summit of world boxing leaders in Boracay , is the additional boxing fight cards featuring some macho Filipino film actors in the arena of double boxing championship matches dubbed as the " Rumble in Bora ".This representation created a new twist in order to re-arranged the fight cards bearing the WIBA for the women super bantam weight inter continental belt and the WPBF championship crown for Filipino pro boxers against foreign foes , and this time to include cinema artists! Initial meeting was made and having attended by known promoters such as Jun Sarreal ,Johnny Elorde and again setting another meeting to involve Dante Almario who also represnts the WPBF here in the country and in Asia.We are yeat to finalize every details of the cards in oreder to realize what we envision , Boracay promotions to become meorable to all Akyanons in the area of Malay , Aklan .

We also would like to acknowledge the continuing support of the PNP heirarchy headed by our outstanding Director General Oscar Calderon , DOT ever dynamic Secretary Ace Durano and his men in Region 6 through Director Edwin Trompeta , Governor Carmilo Marquez of Aklan , Mayor Ciceron Cawaling of Malay , the PNP Provincial Director William Macavinta and among others who in one way or the other have thrown their support in the preparations and planning leading towards the projected success of this January convention.WE will be making our rounds again to these offices and officials for finality of verything before the rush period of December comes.
