POBLANITO GARCIA PROMISES TO STOP SERVANIA IN 5 OR 6; TARGETS DONAIRE

MANILA, Philippines - Mexican Genaro "Poblanito" Garcia (right) with a weight of 122 lbs (55.33 Kgs) and Genesis Servania, who recorded 121 lbs (54.88 kg), succeeded in their appointment with the scale during the official weigh-in ceremony for "Pinoy Pride XIV" staged by ALA Promotions ahead of their tonight's clash at Resorts World Hotel & Casino here in Manila.
Genaro "The Original Poblanito" Garcia and Pinoy rising star Genesis Servania will enter the square ring to settle who will be the owner of World Boxing Council (WBC) International Silver Super Bantamweight Title.
At the official WBC ceremony held yesterday at Robinsons Galleria while hundreds of fans had the opportunity to win free tickets by answering trivia questions from ALA Promotions, the young Pinoy rising star Genesis Servania weighed-in 121 pounds.
Then, after balancing the scale at 122 pounds, the veteran Mexican boxer said that "now is right time to rehydrate to climb the ring strong and fast."
"I feel great. Since Thursday I have been in weight, which haven't happened to me in at least three years. I hope in God's will that I'll grab that International title to Mexico and I wish to be that back in the Philippines in two months to battle any Filipino challenger," said Genaro Garcia in a display of confidence.
The experienced Mexican who has faced five world champions and is now known here as "The Real Poblanito" Garcia, continues to garner the attention of fans and local media.
During the photo shooting right after the weigh-in, "The Real Poblanito" and his opponent traded tough glances at each other to the delight of dozens of boxing fans who witnessed the scale-in ceremony from the different floors of the Robinson's Galleria.
Then, the charismatic Garcia predicted: "I'll end Servania in round 5 or 6. Meaning I will not look for the knockout so quickly. First, I wish to undermined his war capabilities, striking him smartly and rough while watching out I do not get caught by any power blow that he might throw at me. My bombs will have to land in his head and body during the early rounds and then go for KO," Genaro Garcia said.
Garcia regretted that he did not mentioned on Thursday's press conference the reason of his new found desire to return to boxing after 18 months of inactivity.
"The reason is I want to fight Nonito Donaire... I forgot to mention this at the presscon, that I have returned with the interest in battling him (Donaire). I've seen his fights and I know I can beat him. It is therefore important to defeat Servania," shared Garcia.
Meaningfully enough, during the scale-in formalities Genaro Garcia met an old acquaintance: referee Bruce McTavish, who was the third man in charge of actions in 2009 when he disputed the WBC super bantamweight championship to Japanese Toshiaki Nishioka. McTavish was also the boxing official who found out that the other 'Genaro Garcia' was a pirated copy of "Poblanito".
McTavish, born in New Zealand, but residing in the Pampanga, Philippines, for over four decades greeted with affection the true "Poblanito" Garcia and even kindly posed with him with a newspaper showing a photo of McTavish unmasking the fake "Poblanito."
Indeed, the fake Garcia was a fourth class boxer who ridiculed Mexican boxing as he barely managed stand for just over four minutes in his showdown with Filipino Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista.
"Poblanito" Garcia also met the World Boxing Council (WBC) and Ring Magazine Flyweight world champion Sonny Boy Jaro who last March astonishingly knocked out the durable WBC "Champion of the Decade" Pongsaklek Wongjongkam (84-4-2, 45KOs).
Garcia was delighted to meet him as Sonny Boy Jaro's victory has been one of the most celebrated successes of boxing this year. Jaro's first flyweight title defense will be next month against mandatory japanese challenger Toshiyuki Igarashi.
Thus, everything is ready for tonight's rumble when the first bell rings for "Pinoy Pride XIV."
Gates will open at 6pm as tonight promises to be a great night of boxing: "A Night of Champions."
