MANILA, Philippines -- Mexican fighters Genero Garcia (left with white shirt) and Felipe Salguero arrived today at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport for their respective combats in "Pinoy Pride XIV", the exciting boxing event to be staged this coming Saturday (June 2) at Resorts World Hotel in Manila.

The experienced Genaro Garcia will face undefeated Filipino super bantamweight rising star Genesis Sirvania (17-0), while young glory-hungry Felipe Salguero will challenge tough Light Flyweight World Champion Donnie Nietes.

The Mexicans and their teams, together with ex champ Jesus Geles (Milan Melindo's challenger), will hold a presscon tomorrow noon at PSA Forum UN Avenue, Manila. PhilBoxing will be present.

Garcia's first words in the Philippines were "I am going to show fans who the real Genaro 'El Poblanito' Garcia is. I am the tough fighter who became the # 1 bantamweight in the world and have battled five world champions. The 'Genaro Garcia' who came here before was a fourth class boxer who dived to the canvas at the first chance.

"My young Filipino opponent (Genesis Sirvania) will not be able to handle my pressure. Young tough kids try. But they can't."

Garcia has the fight name of "El Poblanito" as he hails from San Mart?n Texmelucan, located in the Mexican State of Puebla. "El Poblanito" Garcia arrived with his trainer Roberto Colin and Jesus Arturo Contreras.

Meanwhile, Felipe Salguero commented that he feels the utmost respect for a great boxer like Donnie Nietes, who is two-division world champion.

Salguero thinks of Nietes to be a fighter of much talent and great experienced who has defeated tough Mexicans in a brilliant career. "I feel strong and this Saturday I want to be a world champion. It's going to be a great fight."

Garcia and Salguero flew together from Mexico in a 30 hours journey that had stops in Amsterdam and Taipei.

Felipe Salguero is accompanied by his team of assistant trainer Pedro Mora Corrales and experienced head trainer "El Conejo" Conrado Guerrero.

"Pinoy Pride IVX" on June 2 at Resorts World is promoted and presented by ALA Boxing Promotions. Fights begin at 6pm. Gates open at 5pm. Telecast: June 3 on ABS CBN at 10:30am. Replay: June 3 at 6pm on Studio 23.
