Former Philippine Bantamweight and WBO AsPac Youth Flyweight Champion Rey Perez (W15 (KO 3) L2 D0) savored the sweetest victory of his budding career as he stopped tough Japanese warrior Tatsuya Takahashi (W13 (KO 9) L3 D1) in round ten en route to being crowned the new WBC Youth Silver Junior Featherweight Champion.

Both fighters engaged in a toe to toe war round by round but Perez showed superior ring class and generalship. Takahashi was busy pummeling the Pinoy fighter but his punches were not strong enough to do damage and gain points. Perez on the hand landed the harder, accurate and telling punches negating the height advantage of the 5'8" Japanese. A huge cut was inflicted on Takahashi's left eyebrow in the third round but it only added fuel to his aggression on Perez.

In the seventh round, Perez started landing clean power shots to the lean body of his opponent. Takahasi started to slow down and was obviously starting to feel the damage. Perez kept on targeting his foe's body and finally got a knockdown in the ninth round. Sensing the vulnerability of his foreign opponent, Perez decided to go for the stoppage and unleashed a flurry of uppercuts and hook combos to the body of Takahashi sending him down the second time.

Referee Ferdinand Estrella saw the damage and halted the fight at 36 seconds of the tenth and final round thus crowning Perez with the new belt via knockout. At the end of the fight, scores read 87-82 for Judge Rey Danseco, 86-83 for Virgilio Garcia, and a lopsided 89-80 for Judge Romy Yulo.

In the supporting bouts, Benezer Alolod dominated Lionel Mark Duran via unanimous decision. Harry Gutana won by unanimous decision over Samuel Apuya. Ernesto Saulong defeated Jason Berwela via unanimous decision. Dino Lelis also took a unanimous decision win over Roy Picardal. Alfie Dagaylo-an battered Ariel Alapormina en route to a unanimous decision win. Joseph Saulong also won via UD versus Jimmy Viceda and curtain raiser Al Rivera knocked out Avelino Ramos in the third round.

The event entitled Bakbakan ng Matatapang sa Balibago was presented by Brusmick Promotions headed by Engineer Ariel Araja. "I am very happy for the success of the event. My kid Rey Perez won and was crowned new champion. I know Rey has the potential. We will try to find better fights to test him and maybe look at an eliminator or interim fight in the near future", Araja told Philboxing.
