After the long wait, Michael "Hammer Fist" Farenas finally gets what he's been waiting for, a crack at a world title. According to Farenas' adviser former world champion Gerry Pe?alosa, Michael will be facing hard hitting Japanese Takashi Uchiyama who currently holds the WBA Super Featherweight World Championship belt and boasts a record of W18(KO15)-L0-D0.
Uchiyama's resume appears scary for any contender considering his knockout victories over marquee champions Jorge Solis (TKO11) and Juan Carlos Salgado (TKO 12). The Japanese KO artist has also former Pacquiao foe Nedal Hussein whom he finished in eight rounds.
Farenas on the other hand has beaten tough Mexican veteran Fernando Beltran Jr. via decision but his ring experience supports his readiness for a world title fight. The fight is scheduled on July 16 at Winghat, Kasukabe, Saitama, Japan.
