In a much awaited rematch, Mexican Orlando Salido (37-11-2, 25 KOs) will defend for the second time his WBO featherweight world title against popular Puerto Rican star Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez (31-1, 28 KOs) this Saturday March 10 at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Officials have been named. Two of the judges will be Michael Pernick and Denny Nelson of the United States. The third judge will be Puerto Rico's Raul Nieves and the referee will be veteran Puerto Rican third man Sr. Roberto Ramirez.
Days before facing again the only man who has beaten him up, Juanma Lopez shares some of his thoughts on how he feels about this dangerous combat.
"After my fight against Gerry Pe?alosa, I looked at boxing more just like my daily work. What motivated me was to make good money to take care of my family. Today, I have a different motivation for this fight (against Salido). It's been long time since I felt a desire to get into fight, and I am overjoyed that I'll fight against Salido again," said Juanma Lopez to Primera Hora in Puerto Rico.
"(This fight) is mine. I want to prove to many people, to the company that promotes me, to my fans and the WBO that when my lost was cause of a bad night, prove that I will be world champion again... and champion for a long time."
Meanwhile, Orlando "Siri" Salido of Mexico does not see things as just a "bad night". Salido foresee that a war is fast approaching.
"I feel so fast and so strong and I am at ease on the weight issue. I come prepared for a war cause the fight against Juanma will surely be another war. We already know each other... I'll knock him out again and he will be wonder things again," said Salido to PhilBoxing.
"In fact, I am physically and mentally better prepared. Much better than last year when I beat Juanma. Readiness is key to face what will come, so that i will once again knock out Lopez. And once I defeat him there will be more big fights for me. I know that the Puerto Rican will try to make a different fight. But that night my pressure on him will make him slow down, and from that moment, war will rage on."
CO-FEATURE: BERNABE CONCEPCION VS MIKEY GARCIA
The co-feature bout will a battle of guts and will between popular Californian featherweight Miguel Angel "Mikey" Garcia (27-0, 23 KOs), who is a top rated fighter in all major boxing organizations, and former world title challenger Filipino Bernabe Concepcion (34-4-1, 17 KOs) in a 10-round clash for the WBO's North American Boxing Organization (NABO) featherweight title.
