IBF Pan Pacific Flyweight Champion Sonny Boy Jaro did an easy job in disposing Samuel Apuya via a first round knockout victory during the Dugong Kampeon in Caloocan last Saturday. It was a tune-up fight for the native of Silay City as he prepares himself for his most difficult task by facing WBC Flyweight Champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam in March 2, 2012 in Thailand.

?I did it quick in order to avoid cuts and other possible injuries. It was just a tune up fight so I did it that way. But I feel like I still need to improve on my speed. I know I have power but Wonjongkam is a fast guy. I have to be faster than him in order to win?, Jaro told Philboxing.

I asked Manager Aljoe Jaro on how he plans to prepare Sonny Boy for his biggest career break yet. ?We all saw the power of Sonny Boy. But his punches were telegraphic. You can?t do that to a seasoned champion in Wonjongkam. He will just laugh at you. I will personally train Sonny and ensure that he improves his speed. He already has the power, once he gets the needed speed, then we?re set for battle. I have no question about his capacity of knocking the Thai champ, but can he hit him? Power is useless if you can?t hit your opponent. We still have time. We will be ready by March 2.?

Sonny Boy Jaro spars with WBC Silver Strawweight Champion Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello at the Jaro Boxing Stable in Binangonan, Rizal.
