Sonny Boy Jaro.

IBF Pan Pacific Flyweight Champion Sonny Boy Jaro (W32 KO22 L10) gets his biggest break so far this year by being given a crack at the WBC Flyweight Belt currently held by Thailand?s veteran champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (W83 KO44 L3). Sonny Boy?s Manager and Promoter Aljoe Jaro told Philboxing that his boxer?s rating was raised from number 13 to number 8 this year in time for the big opportunity. He received the confirmation from the WBC and Wonjongkam?s promoter just tonight via email.

?Sonny Boy was in the perfect timing when WBC raised his ranking from 13 to number 8. Wonjongkam was allowed by WBC to have another compulsory defense where he can choose his opponent from among the top ten ranked. Luckily, the Wonjongkam camp chose Sonny Boy. We know very well that Pongsaklek is a very seasoned veteran Champion. In as much as we are thankful of the opportunity presented to Sonny Boy, we consider this as the biggest break of his career and will prepare him in a way we have never done before. I will personally oversee and guide his training camp. We will be very prepared come March 2. The only way to win this fight is by knock out. There is no way we can win any decision because the defending champion is a highly sound technical fighter. But Sonny Boy is definitely the stronger fighter. We will capitalize on that,? Aljoe Jaro told this scribe.

The number one contender for the title is Japanese Toshiyuki Igarashi who rings a bell for knocking out Pinoy Rexon Flores in 2010. The winner of the Wonjongkam-Jaro will be the mandatory opponent for Igarashi. The fight will be held on March 2, 2012 in Chonburi, Thailand which is an hour away from Bangkok.
