GRANDMASTERS (GMs) Wesley So and Eugene Torre will hold a rare simultaneous chess exhibition to challenge woodpusher's problem solving abilities, critical and strategic thinking in the "Maging Sino Ka Man" chess for a cause starting at 1pm on February 4, 2012 at the Meralco Canteen, Meralco compound in Ortigas.

The one day simultaneous chess exhibition of the two country's GMs aims to raise funds for the benefit of the family of the late 2-time olympian and national master Mirabeau Maga.

Fondly called "Maging" in a local chess arena, the Davao City native Maga, a resident of Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City suffered a cardiac arrest at 8 a.m. at the East Avenue hospital, Quezon City last December 26, 2011 . He was 58.

"We do this to promote chess in the grassroots level," said Torre, Asia?s first GM who has been the long-time vanguard of Philippine chess.

"Y'ung ma ra raise na fund din po ay mapupunta sa pamilyang naiwan po ni kuya Maging (Mirabeau Maga)," added So.

No less than National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Chairman/President Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr., NCFP executive director GM Jayson Gonzales, Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, tournament organizer Reginald Tee and Meralco Chess Club president Rolly Sol Cruz are expected to grace the affair.

Registration fee is P500. For inquiry, call or text 0918-929-8969 and 0908-880-7650 for complete details.
