Michael Farenas.
IBF number seven ranked and Philippine and WBF Featherweight Champion Michael Farenas was at ringside during the Viloria-Segura fight when this scribe caught up with him. When I asked him about any update on his boxing career, he said he?s gonna fight early next year but his desire is to be given a chance to fight Australian Superstar and IBF Featherweight Champion Billy ?The Kid? Dib.

?I have been prepared for a world title fight for so long. Maybe I?m just not very lucky with being given chances. But I really hope 2012 will be a great year and that chance will finally come. I would love to fight Billy Dib because he is an exciting fighter. I respect him so much because he knocks people out but fights smart at the same time. On the other hand I also believe I have the chance to beat him. I have the power and speed and my style fits his style.?

?Chris John is another favorite on my wish list. He defeated Marquez and has been champion for the longest time. He is a more difficult fight than Billy Dib because of his high ring intelligence. He plays boxing like chess. But I have the puncher?s chance and I know he has a questionable chin as seen in the Juarez fight. But I have nothing but respect for Chris John. He beat Marquez and that?s something.?

Farenas? latest victory was against roughhousing Edgar Gabejan from whom he snatched the Philippine GAB Featherweight Belt. He is the prot?g? of Pinoy Boxing Icon Gerry ?Fearless? Pe?alosa and is managed by Japanese businessman Kosuke Washio.
