JOHN LESTER LAGMAN CAPTURES BRONZE, AVERTS MEDAL SHUTOUT FOR PHL IN MALAYSIA JUNIOR GOLF MEET

THE Philippines' John Lester Lagman averted what could have been a medal shutout in junior golf as he capture the bronze in the 10th Sutera Harbour Junior Amateur Open 2011 was held last December 4 and 5 at the Sutera Harbour Golf & Country Club in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.

The 12-year-old nephew of sportsman/businessman Mikee Lagman Romero, playing under the banner of Eastridge Golf and Veterans Golf Club tallied 154 (80-74) en route to the coveted bronze medal.

"Ginawa ko lamang ang best ko," said John Lester, a grade six pupil of TDS Hope Chrtistian Academy, who was part of the Jose "Jun"Cedo--mentored squad.

"I'm so happy for John Lester, winning bronze, despite tinamaan siya ng bola sa 1st day," said former DOTC Action Center head Jon Jon Lagman, father of John Lester.

"Sabi ko nga sa kanya kung gusto na niyang mag withdraw sa event kaso gusto niyang tapusin at nagbunga naman at buti naman nakuha natin ang lone medal sa nasabing event," he added.

Aaerishna Shahsthy Balakrishnan of Malaysia won the gold with 147 (74-73) followed by Suzairi Iqmah Rahim of Malaysia with 150 (75-75) for the silver medal.

The reigning two-time Echiverri Golf over-all champion hopes to carry the momentum when he compete in the Philippine International Jungolf Tournament on January 2012 set in Manila.

Other tournament line-up for Lagman are the 2012 Scottish Junior Golf Tournament on March in Scotland, Junior World Qualifying tour on April in San Diego and US Kids Qualifying tour on May in North Carolina, USA.
