Former WBC and WBO Junior Flyweight Champion Giovanni ?El Guerrero Azteca? Segura has arrived in Manila to challenge WBO Flyweight Champion Brian ?The Hawaiian Punch? Viloria on Sunday, December 11 at the Ynares Sports Center. Segura flew in with manager Richard Mota and Trainer Javier Capetillo. This scribe was able to catch the Mexican warrior while training at Planet Jupiter Boxing Gym in Makati.

Segura has been very appreciative of being invited over to fight in the Philippines. He considers his visit here as a dream come true and is thankful of being given a crack at Viloria?s title. ?The food is so good, the weather is beautiful, I am just living my dream. This is a real blessing from God.?

Segura did four rounds of sparring with Pinoy undefeated prospect Aston Palicte of Planet Jupiter Boxing Gym, did the punch mitts with trainer Javier Capetillo and did some routine exercise. When asked why he was still sparring one week before the fight, he smilingly replied ?I am just a soldier who follows orders, we do this all the time. My focus is to be in the best shape and be the Giovanni Segura that you know.?

When asked about his game plan against Viloria, the Mexican challenger was bold in saying, ?I am going for the knock out. I am not letting this end with a decision. Brian Viloria is no easy fight. He is an Olympian who has better amateur experience than me. I don?t know how to box. I only know how to throw punches.? And when asked about his message to Viloria, he boldly stated, ?Brian, I am going to knock you out! I am saying that with confidence. I am not saying it with bad blood. I am saying this because I wanna give the people what they deserve. The fans put food on our tables. I watch boxing on TV, I hate boring fights and I am not a boring fighter.?

His Manager Richard Mota is also very confident that the judges won?t be very relevant in this bout because his boxer will knock the defending champion out in his own hometown and before his countrymen. ?Giovanni will go for broke and give it his all like he did in his recent fights. Remember that my boy is the only one to beat and knock Ivan Calderon out. I respect Brian coz he?s a good friend and a great champion, but this time it?s all business.?

Viloria vs. Segura is a fight we boxing fans should not miss. This is a rare treat and we are lucky to witness this event in our own backyard. Watch out for the fight on Sunday, December 11, 2011, 8:00 AM at the Ynares Sports Complex in Pasig City.

Author?s Note: Special thanks to Planet Jupiter Boxing Gym Owner, Jason Soong for the warm reception.
