Philboxing.com: Salvador, congratulations on your spectacular victory Friday night. Many people thought that you were over your head fighting Jeovanny Soto, but you destroyed him in two rounds, can you explain why it was such an easy fight?
Salvador Sanchez: My manager Elvis Grant Phillips, always tells me ?the harder you train, the luckier you get,? so I can tell you that I do 8 to 10 miles of roadwork six days a week and, I am sleeping by 9PM and up at 5AM to run, then in the afternoon my trainer Pablo Cano puts me through a rigorous workout, so I put my work in!
PB: Soto had 27 knockouts in 32 wins and was supposed to be your toughest rival to date yet you walked right through him?
SS: My team and I had a plan and we stuck to it, the body shots set up the knockout blow, and I am thankful that I was able to go in and defend my title impressively.
PB: What plans do you and your team have for 2012?
SS: We have been offered a fight on the Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez- Kermit Cintron show November 26th, so my manager is working on that and, for 2012 we will be ready to challenge and win the WBC Featherweight title and put the name of my uncle Salvador Sanchez Narvaez, higher than ever.
PB: Is it true that you fight with your uncle's boxing trunks, robes and shoes?
SS: Yes, my manager owns the entire collection of my uncle's memorabilia and I am so honored that he let me use them, I feel the spirit of him with me every time I step in the ring.
PB: Well Salvador, we would like to thank you for your time and is there any message you would like to send to your fans around the world and where can they stay in touch with your career?
SS: I would like to thank Philboxing for supporting me and, they can follow me on Facebook.com/salvadorsanchezII and my uncle's website and virtual museum at Salvadorsanchez.com
