
Pongsaklek defeats Sosa, retains WBC flyweight world title

BANGKOK -- Pongsaklek Wonjongkam of Thailand successfully retained his World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight world title by scoring a 12-rounds unanimous decision victory over Mexican Edgar Sosa at the 11st Royal Infantry Regiment today in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand.
WBC official score cards were 116-111 and 117-110 (twice) all in favor of the veteran Thailand champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (83-3-1, 45KO's).
Four Filipino fighters are among the WBC's top 15 flyweight contenders with chance to battle world champion Pongsaklek Wonjonkam for his world title next year: Milan Melindo #6, Froilan Saludar #10, Richie Mepranum #11 and Sony Boy Jaro #13.
The Pongsaklek-Sosa fight was organized by Thai promoter Virat Vachirarattanawongsi of Petchyindee Boxing Promotions and broadcast live in the Kingdom of Thailand by Thai Channel 7.
