Makati City - Drian ?Gintong Kamao? Francisco and Michael ?Bruce Lee? Domingo both made the agreed limit of 120 lbs today during the weigh-in of the 'Pinoy Warriors' boxing event at Tiara Oriental Hotel, Makati City.
Roberto ?Calibre? Gonzales weighed at 129 lbs while Balweg Bangoyan tipped in at 130 lbs for their super featherweight co-featured bout tomorrow night at the Makati City Coliseum.
During yesterday?s press conference held in the same venue, Francisco and Domingo avoided any trash talk but simply vowed to put up a clean and exciting fight for the boxing fans. Domingo however predicted that since both of them possess knockout power, then this fight will definitely end in a knockout.
Francisco was emotional when he talked about his first loss telling the press that it made him realize how much he loved the sport and that boxing is his life. Domingo in turn told the press that he agreed to fight Francisco because a fight of this magnitude could put him back at the world rankings an can turn his career to a better direction.
Legendary boxing analyst Ronnie Nathanielsz asked ALA VP Dennis Ca?ete if they are open to hosting a rematch in Cebu in case this fight ends up in a close decision. Mr. Ca?ete answered in the affirmative and this was confirmed by ALA honcho himself Tony Aldeguer via phone conversation with Mr. Nathanielsz.
This event is highly anticipated by both hardcore and mainstream boxing fans in the country. Two warriors both at their prime, both hungry to put their career at a higher level, both determined to win. Indeed this is one of the best match-ups between two Filipino boxers in our local boxing history. Kudos to the dynamic executives of Saved by the Bell Promotions and ALA Promotions for agreeing to pit their fighters against each other for this classic fight in the making.
The event will be held tomorrow September 23, 2011, 7PM at the Makati City Coliseum and will be aired via Solar Sports and AKTV on Sunday September 25.
Special thanks to SBB President Elmer Anuran for the warm reception given to the press people and other guests.
