Fresh from his tenth round TKO victory over Thongthailek Sor Tanapinyo in Thailand, WBC ABC Minimumweight Champion Roilo ?Phoenix? Golez has been given a crack at the vacant WBC Silver Light Flyweight Belt in a fight to be held in Puebla, Mexico on October 1. Golez will face world ranked Mexican Sammy ?Gutty? Gutierrez who boasts a record of W29 (KO20)-L6 (KO1)-D2.

Gutierrez is the more seasoned fighter having fought marquee fighters in the smaller division in the likes of Juan Palacios, Raul Garcia, Nkosinathi Joyi and Omar Ni?o Romero. His losses with said top fighters were all by close decisions except for Joyi who gave him his only KO loss.

Upon telling Golez about the danger of fighting a warrior like Gutty and his status as the underdog in this match, Roilo bravely replied, ?There is no such thing as underdog to me. We climb the ring with the equal chance of winning. It?s a question of how you fight. I saw his fights and I am aware of his speed.
I have speed too but I have more power in my fists. Once I catch him, then it?s game over. I intend to make him crawl.?

This scribe was surprised by Golez?s confidence and I asked him what gives him such guts, ?Sir, I am quite old for a rising prospect, if I mess with this chance, then a second chance is next to impossible. This is a make or break fight. That is why winning is a necessity and I have to win by a brutal knockout because I will be fighting on my enemy?s backyard. If it goes the distance, then the decision will most probably favor the hometown boy. I badly need to knock my opponent out in order to win and that I will work hard for.?

Golez will leave for Mexico via USA on September 23. He will be accompanied by his Manager Brico Santig and trainer Raul Terrado.
