RP super welterweight champion Marlon "Marex" Alta of General Santos City will make the first defense of his title against Cagayan de Oro's Dondon "Celson" Lapuz on September 17 at the Elorde Sports Complex in Sucat, Para?aque City, Metro Manila.

The Alta vs Lapuz GAB title fight is scheduled for 12-rounds and 154 lbs, confirmed promoter Gabriel "Bebot" Elorde, son of legendary Hall-of-Fame champion Gabriel "Flash" Elorde.

National champ heavy hitter "Marex" Alta, whose most riveting victory has been his second round technical KO over Japanese fighter Naozumi Tsuchiyama in August of last year at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Cebu, aims at achieving his 5th consecutive KO win.

Alta is currently rated among the top three Filipino super welterweight (154 lbs) fighters, along with southpaws Cebu's Jimrex Jaca (34-6-3, 19KOs) and Bacolod's "Mighty" Mark Melligen (21-3, 14KOs).

On the other corner of Marlon Alta will be fight veteran Dondon Lapuz who comes into this rumble from a 10-rounds unanimous desicion victory over Elmer Colve in Maranding, Lanao del Norte last July.

Impressively, the durable Lapuz will be making his 50th professional fight.

"It's going to be an interesting title fight between the young boxer Alta against the fearless and experienced warrior Lapuz", said Elorde.

"Alta performed very good in his last fight by knocking out tough Benedict Fontines in round 12, while Dondon Lapuz is focused in scoring a big win," commented the well-known promoter "Bebot" Elorde during a dinner with Philboxing reporters last Saturday night in Malate, Metro Manila.

Additional exciting action-packed combats will fire-up the Elorde Sports Complex.

As very special treat to fans, promoter "Bebot" Elorde has promised a FREE 1 Bottle of SAN MIGUEL BEER for every ticket purchased.

Doors at the Elorde Sports Complex in Sucat, Para?aque, will open on September 17 at 6pm.
