Pac-mansion ready

After his one-sided, unanimous decision victory against Sugar Shane Mosley where he reportedly earned $30 million (guaranteed purse of $20 million plus percentages from pay-per-view buys, closed-circuit tickets, gate receipts and merchandise sales), pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao bought a house for his family in the posh Forbes Park in Makati City.

For a whooping P388 million ($9 million), the Pambansang Kamao purchased the mansion in the private subdivision where some of the country?s wealthiest people live, Pacquiao now included. He will now be neighbors with popular Forbes Park residents like Senator Loren Legarda, GMA 7 chair and CEO Felipe Gozon, businessman Tonyboy Cojuangco, and several ambassadors.

Renovations of the 1,500-square-meter real-estate property, of which celebrity architect Anton Mendoza is in charge, will be finished this month. Boxing?s number one will have the Pac-mansion blessed and lived in as soon as possible.

The property is located in Cambridge Street, North Forbes and was previously owned by the Senior Vice President of a big insurance brokerage firm. It is said to have its own tennis court.

In an earlier interview, Gozon said it will be an honor to have the ?worldwide celebrity? Pacman as his neighbor, as he ?makes us proud to be Filipino.? Pacquiao is a talent of GMA 7 and the network is preparing a new TV show for the boxer to replace his old sitcom, ?Show Me Da Manny.?

In the past, the People?s Champ has bought luxury cars, ventured into businesses and threw big victory parties from his winning purse. But this new house in the most expensive gated community in the country is a good investment, according to finance sources. Manny and Jinkee reportedly had their eyes on the property even way back. The Pac-family owns at least two mansions in General Santos City, another one in Sarangani, a couple of homes in Laguna where they currently live, a house in Dasmarinas Village and the well-publicized home in California.

The richest legislator in the land with a net worth of P1.1 billion as of December 2010 and no liabilities, the Sarangani congressman is also a sought-after endorser of almost every product and brand. Pacquiao deserves all his hard-earned money, and he ought to have all the luxuries he wants. #
