Minimumweight top contender and WBC International Champion Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello-Singwangcha lives up to his monicker as he knocked down Boricuan Omar Soto multiple times in the first round before closing the night in the second round in a one sided pugilistic outrage in Hawaii. Cuello sticked to his game plan of attacking Soto?s body until he couldn?t take the beating anymore. The Ilongo boxing star pummeled the Puerto Rican with precision and raw power making the bout appear like a two round heavy bag session. It was so one-sided yet exciting affair which left the Hawaiian crowd at the edge of their seats.
After the fight, Cuello?s Manager and Promoter Aljoe Jaro checked on Soto?s corner if the boxer was okay. Soto said he was caught off guard by Cuello?s power. He has heard of the Filipino?s strong punches but never imagined him to have the kind of power he tasted that night.
Denver is a shy, soft-talking lad outside the ring but turns into a cold blooded monster upon lacing the gloves and upon the sound of the opening bell. He has called out almost every 105 and 108 lbs champions out there but his voice seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. Cuello?s most notable victory was against former world champion and veteran Muhammad Rachman. Denver broke the record by becoming the first boxer to knock out the Indonesian legend in the ninth round of their bout in Iligan.
According to Aljoe Jaro, ?I was right on my prediction, it was an early and brutal KO. Denver has always been ready for a world title but it seems that no champion out there is ready and brave enough to face him. We are open to fighting anyone at 105 and 108 lbs. They know my number in case. Right now I am waiting to hear from the WBC about facing the winner of the Ioka-Hernandez championship bout this August. We definitely want to fight the winner. We are just praying that WBC will finally give us the chance.?
As to Cuello, he told this writer that he trusts his Manager and they are both hoping for a world title fight this year. ?Thank you to all the Filipino people, my Family and my fellow Ilongos. Thanks to all boxing fans who continue to stand behind every Filipino boxer on our quest to bring more honor to our country. Lastly, let me get this straight to all world title holders at 105 and 108, I?ve always been waiting for you. Give us a call and let us give the boxing fans a great fight. We can show them that the smallest men in boxing can also be exciting to watch.?
