If there is one agency in the national government which is under the direct supervision now of the President's Office it is the Games and Amusements Board.
Apart from all these victories that we witnessed courtesy of our world classs pro boxers, the incumbent leadership of our strong republic, Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, has become more serious in its programs dedicated for the benefit of our young heroes.
By the same token, I would also like to appreciate the recent moves of Reps. "Way Kurat" Zamora, Darlene Antonio- Custodio, Ches Escudero including Rep. Imee Marcos for sponsoring the bills in the House of Representatives geared towards giving lifetime pensions to the Filipino Champions. There's is already an existing law as regards the giving of incentives to our champion athletes, but it only emcompasses the amateurs. These two house bills to be consolidated by the technical committee to be created by the lower chamber of our legislative system, wherein the GAB will play a vital role, aim to include the former world champions in pro sports specifically Filipino boxing champions in the past.
But most of all, we would like to say THANK YOU to our President through the Office of the Executive Secretary Eduardo R. Ermita, for giving us the green light to go on with this dreamed "1st Philippine Annual Boxing Convention" this April 18-21st 2006. The only thing that matters here for the record is that, the Office of the President is extending its open arms to us without any condition at all. No directives for political reasons. Through us, the top heirarchy of the national government is sending a signal not only here but to the whole world in fullfilling our continuing quest to go global for the attainment of recognition and execellence before the community of international athletes.
We feel the big challenge now ahead of us. But with the competence and unwavering leadership of Chairman Eric R. Buhain as the big boss of the country's professional sports, I can already imagine the realization of all these. Last night while we were at the PBA championship games featuring the Red Bull Barako and Purefoods Giant, Buhain told me, "Commm, with our solidarity and common vision we can do it."
The ever dynamic former Olympian is referring to the task bestowed upon us by the President. To which I simply nodded in approval.
Thank you Madame President for your unconditional confidence in this GAB Board. We hope and pray that you will continually be guided by Him above, so that this nation will experience more greatness and progress in the years ahead.
Mabuhay ka, aming mahal na Pangulo!

By the way, while the entire Filipino people from all over the globe are waiting for Brian Villoria's fight this coming Sunday, February 19, 2006 in Las Vegas, the Board of the GAB extends its COMMENDATION to Jun Paderna, another upcoming Filipino boxer who has recently won the PABA or the Pan Asian Boxing Association in the Super-Featherweight category in Ubon Rachathani, Thailand last February 10, 2006 by flooring down Suttisak Samaksaman of Thailand. Mabuhay ka Jun Paderna!
