MANNY PACQUIAO, NELSON MANDELA, LEE KWAN YEW NOMINATED FOR 2010 BRAIN OF THE YEAR

GUANGZHOU, CHINA -- FILIPINO boxing great Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao, former South Africa President Nelson Mandela and ex-Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kwan Yew are going head to head and toe to toe at 2010 Brain of the Year tiara.

The General Santos City pug Pacquiao, winner of world record ten world boxing titles in eight different weight divisions, congressman, peacemaker and philanthropist; and Mandela, a philanthropist, peacemaker and spiritual heir to Mahatma Gandhi and Lee Kwan Yew, Master Mentor of an entire nation are heading the list of nominees in this prestigious award being held to coincide the on-going 19th World Memory Championships here at the beautiful Mount River Resort Hotel No. 27 Tai He Yi Huan Road (also known locally as the Feng Jin Yuan Hotel), Bai Yun District, Guangzhou, China on Saturday.

As mentioned directly to Tito and Anne Cadiz (Two of the first three Filipino International Memory Arbiters and Founders of Dynamic Recall of Dynamic Training Systems Corp.) by Mr. Tony Buzan himself, they chose Manny Paquiao because he is an intelligent person not only in his field of expertise in boxing but in also in other areas like business and (even) politics. "We like him to represent the Filipino people because we want him to become the inspiration of the Filipino students. If they (Filipinos) would know that Paquiao would endorse focusing in the field of memory many Filipinos will become excellent in their learning in school and in other fields," Mr. Tony Buzan (founder of World Memory Sports Council) was quoted as saying.

Also in the list of nominees were Wang Feng of the host nation, the reigning Chinese Memory Champion, 8th-time World Memory Champion Dominic O Brien of the United Kingdom, Tennis ace Roger Federer of Switzerland, chess grandmasters Viswanthan Anand of India and Magnus Carlsen of Norway, director James Cameron of Canada, Dame Evelyn of Scotland, Jane Goodall and Prof. Stephen Hawking of UK, Lee Chang-Ho of South Korea, Prof. Michio Kaku of USA, Gabriel Garcia Marquez of Colombia, JK Rowling of Scotland and Sebastian Vettel of Germany.

Meanwhile, host nation China, Germany and United Kingdom are tight in battle for the gold medal race in the team event which attracted 150 competitors from 22 nation. As of this writing, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)-Mandaluyong-Bagong Henerasyon RP Memory Team headed by 2010 UK silver medalist Johann Randall Abrina and Roberto Racasa is at No.8 in over-all ranking.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos Jr., the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) through its general manager Atty. Jose Ferdinand "Joy" Rojas II and chairman Margie Juico, representative Bernadette Herrera-Dy of Bagong Henerasyon Party-List, representative Mark Aeron Sambar of PBA party-list, House Speaker Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte, Glutaphos of Pascual Laboratory, Marikina representative Marcy Teodoro, Mandaluyong representative Boyet Gonzales, Bicycle Card, Luke Rojas of St. Francis Square and Willy Ortiz of ACCEL are backing the Filipinos' campaign in this prestigious event that was conceptualized 18 years back.
