Erik Morales is training hard in Centro Ceremonial Otomi for his December 18 fight against former world champion Jorge "La Hiena" Barrios.

"Erik started his training a few weeks ago in Tijuana, he is running 40 minutes in the morning and then in the afternoon he goes on with his boxing rutine of 12 rounds hitting the heavy bag, the speed bag, and the mitts," Said Olivaritos Morales, the father and trainer of the former three division champion.

"Erik's weight is good, he looks thin, he is already close to the contracted weight of 138 pounds, he has taken care of his body, and weight won't be an issue," confirmed Morales.

About Jorge "La Hiena" Barrios, Morales said:

"He is a good fighter that comes foward all the time, he is a brave man, we will get sparring partners with the same style as Barrios, i told Erik that we have to be careful with Jorge's right hand, he has a tremendous right hand and he throws bombs with it, i need Erik to move side to side and be very fast, it will be a tough fight but i know Erik will win, there is no doubt about it," concluded Olivaritos Morales.
