DAVAO City ? World-rated Julius Alcos of Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte will face Jojo Rodrigo of Bukidnon this Saturday, January 14 at the Maasim gym in Maasim, Sarangani Province.

The 10-rounder bout is the main header in the birthday boxing presentation of Maasim Mayor Anecito "Jojo" Lopez. Alcos, ranked IBF No. 14, is fresh from his upset victory against International Boxing Federation (IBF) No. 11 junior flyweight contender Wendell “Braveheart” Janiola of Cebu held last Dec. 28 at UM Gym in Tagum City.

Alcos, also rated No. 10 by the World Boxing Federation (WBF), won by a unanimous decision against the early-favorite Janiola. “This time, Julius will be the heavy favorite,” said Alcos’ manager Willy Neri of Davao City. The winner will receive a golden trophy from Mayor Lopez.

Pitted in the main supporting bout is the 8-rounder between bantamweight Daniel Solis also of Winer Stable against Edwin Talita of Butuan. Added in the undercard are Harry Cahapon against Leonito Dumagat (8 rds.-130 lbs.) and Rochie Mempramon against Romel Verde (6 rds.-110 lbs.)
