Straight from the Chairman's boardroom, the GAB Board via a unanimous approval, issued resolutions to "commend and give honors and recognitions to the new rising great fighters of the ring, and for their greatest achievements for the success of professional boxing community in the country," the resolution stated in a phrase. And in "championing the great ideals of boxing as a sport, thereby serving as exemplars of embedded Filipino potentials and ability to undo foreign foes and for giving such honor and prestige to the Philippine flag and the Republic," it added.
Proud and in high spirits, Chariman Eric R. Buhain maintains that "as an agency mandated to enhance all aspects of professional sports in the country, and much more in boxing since it is gaining more ground for the benefit of all, I myself, as a sportsman, through this Board extends our unequivocal support for Rey 'Boom-Boom' Bautista, the reigning WBO Asia-Pacific Bantamweight champion, Czar Amonsot, the newly proclaimed WBO Asia-Pacific Jr. Lightweight champion, after knocking down his Indonesian foe, both natives of Bohol province, are now considered by the agency as the rising stars of pro boxing, after they have displayed the unprecedented courage and skills last November 19, 2005 at the "Bakbakan sa Tagbilaran".
The consistent incumbency of the GAB also recognizes Malcolm Tu?acao, the new OPBF bantamweight champion in his performance by beating a Thailander in Tokyo, Japan on the same date last Saturday.
So far, on the lists we have now nine (9) champions and top rated among the various international sanctioning bodies of professional boxing. The Games and Amusements in appreciation and deep recognition to some people who in one way or another helped to propel the development of pro boxing in the Visayas, penned resolutions for the following: Governor Erico Aumentado of Bohol, Mayor Dan Neri Lim of Tagbilaran City, Congressmen Roberto Cajes, Edgar Chatto and Eladio Jala, for their contributions to the success of the boxing promotion, Samson Gello-ani and Antonio L. Aldeguer are also included in the GAB resolutions. Big salute to both of you, Sirs! Let's continue doing this, for the betterment of Philippine boxing .

Of course, we cannot afford to lose our sights to the untimely demise of our former chairman of the GAB, the Honorable Luis A. Tabuena. He died last November 22, 2005. Details of his exemplary performances, track record and achievements in government service as public official need voluminous pages of the web to accomodate. But just a few but significant aspects of his governmental profiles were: he served the Games and Amusements as its Chairman from 1972 to 1986. While serving then at the GAB, he was the concurrent General Manager of Manila International Airport during the Marcos era. During his long stint in the national bureaucracy, he was able to institute many reforms for the development of entire sports all over the country. The whole GAB people now join the bereaved family of the late former GAB chairman in prayers for the repose of his soul.
