
PILIPINAS VS WORLD BOXING EVENT IN DUBAI ALL SET FOR APRIL 23

CEBU CITY -- It's all systems go for the 'Pilipinas vs Rest of the World' boxing event to be held at Chi Garden, The Lodge in Dubai on Friday, April 23, ALA Promotions, who partnered with Dubai-based KO Promotions, has informed.
Headlining the event is one-time world challenger Rey 'Boom-Boom' Bautista who will face Saichon Sotornpitak of Thailand. Highly ranked Milan Melindo will take on Devis Perez of Columbia while fast rising and crowd favorite slugger Larry Canillas tests his mettle against Fred Sayumi of Tanzania. The evening will also showcase a K1 Rules' Tag Team championship featuring Mohammed Ali ?The Stallion? Bayat and Simon Young. An MMA fight will round up the hostilities.
The visas for the boxers, trainers and officials are expected to arrive today and on Monday, April 19, Bautista, Melindo and Canillas, trainers Edmund Villamor, Joseph Baldago and Rey Caitom, ALA President Michael Aldeguer and ALA Vice President Dennis Canete, will leave Cebu for Dubai via Hong Kong.
On Wednesday, April 21, GAB boxing chief Dr. Nasser Cruz, who will supervise the event, together with ring officials Ver Abainza, Salven Lagumbay and Ben Necesario will follow suit.
This will be the first time that boxing will be brought to the highly developed city of Dubai, dubbed as the 'Las Vegas of the Middle East' and its maiden performance will become a measuring stick for further boxing events.
KO Promotions, headed by its president Zack Taumafai, has however already organized several successful Muay Thai, MMA and UFC fight events in the area.
