The 'Bakbakan sa Sinulog' boxing event headlining undefeated ALA boxer Milan Melindo who challenges WBC Youth Champion Anthony Villareal of California and bantamweight prospect AJ 'Bazooka' Banal who tangles Mexican veteran Cicilio Santos will be aired by TV 5 on a slightly delayed basis starting at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14.
Meanwhile, tickets for the event are selling briskly, according to ALA Promotions Vice-President Dennis Canete. "By all indications, the Sinulog event will be a sellout," says Canete. "The response of this card is even better than that of the return of Boom-Boom Bautista last October." The highly popular Bautista returned to action after a long layoff due to injury last Oct. 16, 2009 in the same venue and won by 7th round TKO over Marangin Marbun in an exciting fight.
Villareal and Santos arrived early Friday morning in Cebu and were introduced to the media Friday afternoon. The duo will have a public workout Monday afternoon starting at 5 p.m. at the ALA Gym in Banilad Town Center.
Villareal and Santos will come face to face with Melindo and Banal during the fight press conference on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at the Aegan Room of the Waterfront Hotel. The presscon starts at 11 a.m.
Weighin will be held at the SM Entertainment Plaza on Wednesday, Jan. 13 starting at 11 a.m.
'Bakbakan sa Sinulog' is being promoted by Smart Sports in cooperation with the ALA Boxing Gym.
