Unheralded Johnreil Casimero of Cebu adds another chapter to the Philippines' storied boxing history by capturing the WBO Interim Light Flyweight title by defeating Cesar Canchila of Colombia at Estadio Nacional in Managua, Nicaragua moments ago.
WBO Vice-President Leon Panoncillo has informed that Casimero knocked down Canchila in the third, sixth, ninth and twice in the eleventh round before the referee stopped the contest in favor to the power-punching Filipino.
"As I have helped many fighters accomplish of being somebody, another fighter has prevailed. Jhonreil Casimero proved to be another gem from the Philippines," Panoncillo told PhilBoxing.com.
Casimero, ranked #4 by WBO before the fight, remained undefeated and registered his 14th victory and 8th knockout win while Canchila, ranked #2 by WBO, dropped to 28-3-0 with 22 knockouts.
