Mark Jason Melligen of the Philippines loses by split decision against Michel Rosales of Mexico in the 10-round welterweight battle at the House of Blues at the Mandalay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, moments ago.
Dr. Ed de la Vega, reporting from ringside, said the contest was close all throughout with a lot of give and take by both parties and "a draw could have done more justice to the contest." However, Rosales got the nod of the two judges to snatch the fight in his favor.
The scores of the judges were, Paul Smith, 96-94 for Rosales; Eric Cheek, 96-94 for Rosales and Burt A. Clements, 98-92 for Melligen.
Rosales has now improved his record to 25-3-0 (21KO) while Melligen dropped to 16-2-0 (12KO)
