How many of us ever thought that Manny Pacquiao would be on American prime time national TV one day? Well that day has come, welcome to prime time TV Pacman! He’s much more than a boxer now, America has discovered the latest boxing celebrity who also moonlights as family man, actor and singer. Variety late night talk shows like Jimmy Kimmel certainly reaches the masses, watched by different age groups and backgrounds across the country, talk shows like these can make you or break you on primetime TV. Manny’s appearance tonight will only enhance his popularity even more in addition to winning over new fans who were watching.

Jimmy Kimmel showcased that Manny is a true but humble superstar backed up by a pronounced Pinoy presence in the audience chanting “Manny!”. His appearance today gave him the opportunity to become a very likable boxing household name reserved for American boxers like Oscar Dela Hoya who has dominated the media in recent years. Since the much talked about swanky blonde Pamela Anderson was also a guest, you can bet that many had more reasons to watch.

Manny was the main guest on the show tonight, stealing thunder from the former Playmate of the Year Pamela who knew more about the UFC but very little about boxing. Since Manny and boxing was the flavor of the evening, Pamela’s interview was short and sweet tonight. Jimmy Kimmel and Manny talked about a variety of topics that proved that he‘s much more than an athlete. Jimmy introduced Manny as the best pound for pound fighter in the world and the pride of the Philippines in addition to the describing him as Future President of the Philippines punching out pumpkins in his show. Anyone who didn’t know Manny before the show will discover that he is very likable and respectful individual. He stated that Miguel Cotto is the champion and he is only the challenger, can you get humbler than that?

Wapak Man, Manny’s new movie was also showcased on National TV defining his role as a superhero, similar to a hybrid superman and spiderman where he does his own stunts as similar to the famous Jackie Chan. However, the host had a little fun at Manny’s expense by capitalizing that superhero Wapak cannot do everything because he cannot turn invisible. Jimmy was also intrigued with Manny’s daughters name, Queen Elizabeth and how he chose the name based on the movie. They also talked about Manny’s hardened wooden stick he uses for pain management and mind conditioning as seen on previous episodes of 24/7 on HBO.

Manny spoke about what it was like to be the most popular guy in the Philippines. You know you’re a superstar when you can’t even go out in public without a crowd following you around asking to take pictures and for his autographs. Jimmy Kimmel must have found it unusual for Manny to live with eight people in his apartment in addition to having thirty people in Team Pacquiao. Manny explained that all members have their own specific roles with him.

To conclude Manny’s appearance he sang “Sometimes when we touch”, like it or not, its such a tender song for such a ferocious boxer. Ironically some would wonder how someone with such a killer instincts in the ring can be so gentle outside it.

Within a short amount of time Jimmy Kimmel was able to interview and talk about Manny’s lifestyle, activities and his personality. His appearance today’s show will return dividends to Manny’s ever increasing popularity beyond the sport of boxing in addition to identifying that he is truly one of the most popular Superstar athletes in the world today.
