MGMG Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas -- In the opening TV bout, undefeated Orlando Cruz (16-1-1 17KO) of Puerto Rico was checked from his aggresiveness when Cornelius Lock (18-4-1 11KO) of Detroit, MI, caught him with a right cross in the first round and then Lock followed it up with a couple of lefts to send Cruz to the canvas. Rounds 2 to 4 saw Lock controlling the fight. In the 5th round there was a some semblance of a Cruz rally but a perfect right hook by Lock from the inside caught Cruz in the chin that sent Cruz to the canvas for the second time in the night. Referee Robert Byrd waved the contest off as Cruz suffered his first career loss.

BY JASON ANIEL:

In a significant upset, Cornelius Lock scored a fifth round TKO over the previously undefeated Orlando Cruz. Lock had knocked Cruz down in the second round and after some heated exchanges and back and forth action, Lock finally ended the fight with a clean right hook. Cruz falls to 16-1-1 (7 KOs) and explains that he was just a good shot. Lock, who was a last sub for Zab Judah ups his record to 19-4-1 (12 KOs).
