Juan Manuel 'Juanma' Lopez continues his rise to stardom by registering a 9th round TKO win over his wily Canadian challenger Olivier Lontchi when Lontchi's corner prevented their ward to come out in the 10th round to successfully defend his WBO superbantam crown for the fourth time at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey Saturday night.

Lopez knocked down Lontchi in the 2nd and 9th round but Lonctchi seemed to have always found a way to survive round after round by running away or clinching when he comes close to the arguably best fighter in the super bantamweigt division.

Lontchi made the fight a little bit interesting when he hit Lopez with a couple of hard rights in the fifth round that momentarily kept Lopez's onslaught. Lopez later admitted that "although Lontchi's knockout record is not impressive but he hits hard."

Lopez, touted as the next boxing superstar, has now registered his 14th win inside the distance to compile a 26-0-0 (24KOs) record and left a trail of spectacular wins in his last six fights against formidable opponents in Jonathan Oquendo, Daniel Ponce Ponce de Leon, Cesar Figueroa and Gerry Penalosa.

During the post-fight interview, Lopez said he will have one last fight for the year probably in October which also be his last fight in the 122-lb division before moving up to the 126-lb division as a full-fledge featherweight.
