Defending WBC light flyweight champion Edgar Sosa of Mexico and challenger Sonny Boy Jaro of the Philippines made the required 7-day weight on Sep. 20 for their title bout scheduled on Sep. 27 at Arena Mexico in Mexico City dubbed as "Batalla in la Capital II."
In a report from BoxNoticias, Sosa weighed in at 51 kilos (112.4 lbs), 600 grams below the required 7-day weight limit, while Jaro came in at 50 kilos (110.2 lbs).
More than 800 people came to witness the weighin ceremony held at the Colonias D?az Mir?n y Constituci?n de la Rep?blica.
After the weighin, Sosa (32-5-0 17KOs) sparred for two rounds with his sparring partner Ali 'Pinky' Mayorga while Jaro (28-6-5 17KOs) also sparred for two rounds with Carlos 'Carnes' Rosales. The public display by both protagonists wowed the crowd and as Jaro executed a clean hit to the liver of Rosales via a left hook at the end of the first round of sparring, Jaro "made it clear that he simply did not come to Mexico to fulfull his commitment but with the intent of returning to the Philippines with the championship belt."
