WBC/WBA superfly super champion Cristian Mijares of Mexico will face IBF superfly champ Vic Darchinyan of Australia for a unification bout in November, according to a report from Mexican website BoxNoticias.com.

Mijares (36-3-0 15KOs) successfully defended his belts last Saturday in Monterrey, Mexico against former Manny Pacquiao opponent Chatchai Sasakul of Thailand via a 3rd round TKO.

Darchinyan (30-1-1 24KOs) who captured the IBF belt from Dimitri Kirilov of Russia only last month, also voiced out his desire to meet Mijares in a unification battle for his next fight.

?... no sabemos todav?a, pero me gustar?a enfrentarlo y que fuera en Los ?ngeles, donde est?n mis paisanos, predomina la comunidad mexicana y ah? ante mi gente me gustar?a pelear,? (we still don't know, but I want to face him (Darchinyan) outside of Los Angeles where many of my countrymen live, where the Mexican community predominates and there I want to fight him in front of my people), Mijares said.

Mijares also made a swipe on WBO superfly champion Fernando Montiel who he said they offered to fight but refused because of fear. But according to people close to the situation, Montiel is having difficulty making the superfly weight limit and will likely move up to the bantamweight division.

The superfly division is one where Filipinos have great interest because some of its contenders are also eyeing for the top spot. There were talks for Z Gorres to rematch with Montiel in December in Macau but if Montiel leaves the divsion and vacates his belt, Gorres is more likely fight for the vacant WBO title.

Reigning IBF flyweight champion Nonito Donaire, Jr., who grabbed the belt from Darchinyan last year and who will be defending it against Moruti Mthalane on Nov. 1, is expected to move up in weight and challenge either Mijares or Darchinyan.

AJ Banal, before his shocking loss to Rafael 'El Torito' Concepcion of Panama last July 26 in Cebu for the WBA Interim title, was also considered as one of the top contenders. Now it is the Panamanian Concepcion who will try to position himself as he defends his Interim belt against the highly popular Jorge Arce of Mexico in Mexico City two weeks from now on Sep. 15.
