United States Earns Seven More Wins In Colombia

GIRARDOT, Colombia (May 22, 2026) – USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance Squad posted another seven-win day as the Stars and Stripes improved to 41-7 at the 2026 Copa America. USA Boxing went 7-2 on the day, as they were led by Jennifer Lozano (51 kilograms), Moises Rodriguez (55 kilograms), Yahir Diaz-Martinez (60 kilograms), Kendra Samargis (75 kilograms), and Malachi Georges (90 kilograms), while Dustin Jimenez (65 kilograms) and Kentrell Rouser (70 kilograms) each earned victories by walkover.

Lozano was the first American to enter the ring, and she dominated her opponent from start to finish, securing a 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Gina Alvarez. Lozano improves her competition record to 4-0, including three wins by RSC. She will enter the ring on Friday, May 22, against Leidy Rivas in Bout 8 at approximately 4:45 p.m. ET.

Samargis secured her first international win on Thursday after defeating Daniela Pachon by a 5-0 unanimous decision. Samargis controlled the bout from start to finish, including an eight-count in the second round. She improved to 1-0 in Colombia and will have Friday off.

Moving to the men’s team, Rodriguez secured his third 5-0 unanimous decision victory at this event after defeating Carlos Hurtado. Rodriguez is now 4-0 in Colombia and 6-0 internationally. Rodriguez is off Friday and will return to action this weekend.

Diaz-Martinez secured the USA’s fourth win of the day in a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Disney Ezequiel Medina. Diaz-Martinez secured his fourth international win on Thursday and improved his Copa America record to 3-1. He is off Friday but will return to the ring this weekend.

Georges concluded the day in dominant fashion for the Stars and Stripes, earning an RSC victory and earning a RSC victory in the third round over Juan Mausa. The New Jersey native now has a 4-1 Copa America record, including two wins by RSC. Georges is back in action on Friday in Bout 27 at approximately 9:30 p.m. ET against Alfonso Blanco.

Earning victories by walkover on Thursday were Jimenez and Rouser. Jimenez is now 5-0, and Rouser improves to 4-1. Both boxers are off on Friday.

Also entering the ring on Thursday were Jayshannet Zapata (54 kilograms) and Tyric Trapp (80 kilograms). The two boxers competed through three rounds of Olympic-style boxing, but unfortunately, Zapata fell 4-1 to Estefani Almanza, and Trapp lost 4-1 to Noel Pacheco. Zapata will face Jennifer Quintero on Friday in Bout 10 at approximately 5:15 p.m. ET, and Trapp will have the day off.

USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance Squad will have seven boxers on Friday, including Deborah Grant (57 kilograms), Alexis Proctor (60 kilograms), Gilbert Kabamba (90+ kilograms), and Nnajai Wright (90+ kilograms).

Throughout the competition at the 2026 Copa America, the United States will be led by USA Boxing National Development Coach Edward Fonteneaux (Fayetteville, N.C.), with assistance from Alex Love (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Billy Rafalko (Philadelphia, Pa.), and Jeffrey Nimo (Grand Prairie, Texas).
