All eyes are on Grandmaster Daniel Quizon as he competes in the 19th Edition of the Kamatyas Rapid Open and Kiddies Chess Tournament 2026, set for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Vista Mall, Sta. Rosa, Laguna, in front of Nuvali.

Also joining are International Masters Ronald Dableo, Jan Emmanuel Garcia, and Chito Garma—fresh from winning titles at the Philippine National Seniors Chess Championships recently held in Dumaguete City.

The Open 7-Round Swiss System Tournament, organized by International Master Roderick Nava and National Master David Almirol Jr. of the Kamatyas Chess Club, offers a top prize of P30,000 along with a trophy.

"There will be no free meals. Instead, participants will receive a free souvenir-designed T-shirt for the 19th Kamatyas edition," said IM Nava.

"Raffle prizes worth P10,000 will be given away during the awarding ceremony. Registration is free and includes the T-shirt," he added.

Second to fourth placers will receive P10,000, P7,000, and P5,000 respectively.

Fifth to tenth placers will get P2,000 each, while 11th to 15th placers will receive P1,000 each.

The top players in the Juniors, Ladies, and Senior divisions will each get P2,000.

The kiddies champion will take home P3,000, with second to fifth placers receiving P1,500, P1,000, P500, and P500 respectively.
