The year 2026 is kicked off with a large and magnificent 1st Linasan Chess Festival, held as part of Barangay Taculing’s Annual Charter Day celebration. This event was conceptualized by Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials, led by their active and charming Chairperson Ms. Bea Kyshia Pabular, and supported by the Barangay Council under Bacolod City ABC President PB Lady Gles Pallen – a steadfast advocate for sports not only in her beloved Brgy. Taculing but also as a long-serving ABC President and elected Secretary of the National ABC Secretariat.

The chess event features five categories:

- 13 years old and below for Boys and Girls
- 17 years old and below for Boys and Girls
- Open category for all chess players in Negros Island and neighboring provinces

The event will be managed by our President NM/FA Rodolfo W. Toledo – a proud Councilor of Brgy. Taculing and a multi-awarded chess player who has brought numerous honors to the country and abroad. It is also supported by our Board Chairman, a distinguished businessman and prominent political figure Mr. Ricardo "Cano Gwapo" Tan – the founder of the Ryan Rupert Memorial Chess Championship, which has produced some of Negros Occidental’s top chess masters. He is also a successful entrepreneur with diverse business interests, including the well-known Campuestuhan Highland Resort.

All details are available on promotional tarpaulins and social media posts. Interested participants have until February 10, 2026 to register and join this exciting tournament. Numerous cash prizes await the winners… See you there, fellow chess players! The event is scheduled from February 14 to 16 at Forest Park Resort, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City.-Marlon Bernardino -
