The journey begins on a high note for the RP Blu Boys! In their opening game of the International Exchange Tournament in Higashikagawa City, Japan, the national men’s softball team delivered a commanding 2–0 victory over local side Himeji.
From start to finish, this was a full-team effort — precise pitching, tight defense, and opportunistic hitting combined to put the Philippines ahead early and keep the pressure on throughout. They nailed Game 1 with authority and set the tone for the rest of the competition.
Building on that strong start, the RP Blu Boys continued to make waves in Japan. The national men’s softball team wrapped up a grueling triple-header in the ongoing International Exchange Tournament in Higashikagawa City with outstanding results — finishing the day unbeaten across all three matches. Their blend of skill, stamina, and team cohesion shone through as they delivered one of their most impressive collective performances yet.
The Blu Boys opened with a tight draw against Kagawa, Japan (2–2), a defensive duel that tested both sides early. But the Filipinos quickly shifted gears, unleashing their full offensive power in the following games. They overwhelmed Singapore U23 with a dominant 16–0 victory and followed up with another decisive 9–0 win over the Hong Kong National Team. By the end of the triple-header, the RP Blu Boys stood tall with two wins and one draw — remaining unbeaten in the competition and sending a clear message of their readiness and form on the international stage.
“This run is a strong validation of our hard work and preparation,” said Jean Henri Lhuillier, President of the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier. “We are immensely proud of the boys and the way they executed as a unit. The tournament was a huge test but the challenges ahead are bigger and we are ready to meet them head-on.”
The International Exchange Tournament in Higashikagawa City, Kagawa Prefectur, is an invitational event that gathered national and strong softball teams from across Asia, including Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. Running from October 31 to November 2, it provides invaluable international exposure and strengthens regional camaraderie among developing softball nations. For the RP Blu Boys, closing the tournament unbeaten is not just a reflection of their current form but also a promising sign for the future of Philippine men’s softball — proof that with discipline, teamwork, and determination, they can compete and excel at the highest level.- Marlon Bernardino
