Last Pinoy Standing: Jonas Magpantay marches into semis in Qatar World Cup 10-Ball

Jonas Ruga Magpantay is the last Filipino standing in the Qatar World Cup 10-Ball as other Filipinos including Bonus fell like dominoes in their Last 8 matches on Saturday at the Ezdan Palace in Doha, Qatar.

Magpantay defeated Wojciech Szewczyk of Poland, 11-5, in the last 16 before trouncing Niels Feijen of the Netherlands, 11-7, in the last 8.

The Barangay Kaunlaran, Cubao, Quezon City resident Magpantay will face the winner of the Moritz Neuhausen of Germany vs Bader Alawadhi of Kuwait match.

Bonus beat compatriot Johann Chua,11-9, in a tense all-Filipino clash in the last 16 but was beaten by Szymon Kural of Poland in the quarter final round.

"The pride continues. From 128 of the world's best , now in the Final 4.
Jonas Magpantay is now the only Filipino left in the Qatar World Cup 10 Ball 2025 representing our flag with heart and humility. Let's continue to support and pray for him as he pushes toward the finish line," posted Doha based Imee Magpantay-Balida on her Facebook account, eldest sister of Jonas.

Organized by the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation and sanctioned by the World Pool Association, the event offers a total pot prize of US$450,000 with the champion getting the lion share of US$100,000.

The runner-up will earn US$40,000, while the semi-finalists will receive US$15,000, the quarter-finalists will bring home US$8,000.

The last 16, the last 32, the last 64 and the last 96 will not go empty handed with a guaranteed US$5,000, US$4,000, US$3,000, and US$1,500, respectively.-Marlon Bernardino-
