3 Filipinos Reach Qatar World Cup 10-Ball Last 16, Biado Out

Johann Chua, Jericho Bonus and Jonas Magpantay made their way to the round-of-16 of the Qatar World Cup 10-Ball after winning their respective matches in the knockout stage at the Ezdan Palace in Doha, Qatar on Friday.

Chua defeated Wu Kun-Lin of Chinese-Taipei, 11-9, to keep his chances of winning one of the biggest 10-ball events of the professional pool circuit.

Bonus also kept his strong form winning over Albania's Kledo Kaci, 11-9, while Magpantay shocked countryman Carlo Biado, 11-8.

In the last 16, expect one Filipino to be eliminated again after Chua and Bonus face each other. Magpantay, on the other hand, goes up against Wojciech Szewczyk of Poland.

Magpantay, a former World Junior of pool semi-finalist from Cubao, Quezon City also defeated Qatar's Arab Team champion Abdullatif Alfawal, 9-0, Japan's top cue artist Naoyuki Oi, 9-6, and World Games gold medalist Oliver Szolnoki of Hungary, 11-7.

Up for grabs a total pot of US$450,000 with the champion getting the lion share of US$100,000.- Marlon Bernardino-
