IIEE PSME Quezon City Simba's Tribe wins 4 straight in PCAP Tourney

The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE), Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) and Quezon City (QC) chess team of Simba’s tribe continued their winning ways for 4 straight matches winning last October 18 in the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) vs Bangkok Double Bishop (17-4) and Koronadal Dreamweavers (21-0).

Perfect score with 3 points in Rapid and blitz versus Bankok are AGM Joseph Galindo, Manilyn Cabungcag, Norman Madriaga and Francis Talaboc. AGM Galindo bested Wongpath Wongsirirangsee of Thailand, Cabungcag blanked Jade Ann Causo, Madariaga mastered Rathanon Pailinanurak and Talaboc won over Pailinanurak. Romy Fagon stood his ground against IM Prin Laohawirapap with a draw in rapid, IM Jose Efren Bagamasbad come back with a win versus Leonardo Navarro same with Nixon Curioso winning against Nathanon Pailinanurak.

While prioritizing a tournament in Koronadal, the Red Cross Way which is a national event that gathered inspiring International Masters (IMs), National Masters (NMs), and hundreds of passionate players from across the country, the Dreamer yielded victory to IIEE PSME QC Simba’s tribe without lifting a piece. The Simba’s tribe now tallied 5-6 win-loss record for current 6th place in the standing of the Northern Division or 10th overall among 18 teams playing in the 2nd conference Season 5 of PCAP. The team will face unbeaten and current champion Toledo-Xignex Trojans and Bacolod Blitzers on October 22, 2025.-Marlon Bernardino-
