Five Boxers Set to Compete on Day One of World Championships
LIVERPOOL, England (September 4, 2025) – Team USA's path to gold is set after the 2025 World Boxing Championships draw concluded this evening from M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England. The United States will be represented by 14 boxers, seven men and seven women.
Their 2025 World Boxing Championships journey will kick off tomorrow, September 4, and conclude on September 14. Team USA has had three international events in preparation for the World Boxing Championships, where the Stars and Stripes logged a total of 17 medals, including two gold medals, five silver medals, and 10 bronze medals.
Kicking it off for Team USA on September 4 is Orlando Zamora (Turlock, Calif.) in the 55-kilogram bracket. Zamora is scheduled to compete in Ring B, bout six against Kyrgyz Republic's Zafarbek Shakirzhanovich Kamilov. Zamora is on the hunt for his first international win, and the stage in Liverpool looks to be the perfect opportunity to do just that for the young Californian.
Rene Camacho goes second for the United States and will step into the blue corner in Ring B for bout nine of the opening session against Croatia's Filip Poturovic. After joining the USA Boxing Elite High Performance team in June, Camacho has been nothing short of impressive for the team and claimed a bronze medal in his first international competition, the World Boxing Challenge in Usti Nad Labem, Czech Republic.
Carlos Flowers (Dover, Del.), 70 kilograms, is slated to be the third USA competitor in action during Thursday's opening session. The Delaware native won a bronze medal at the World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 and returns to competition after several months. Flowers will go toe-to-toe with Azerbaijan's Sarkhan Aliyev in bout No. 10, Ring A.
Rounding out day one for Team USA are Ramon Ordonez (Newark, N.J.) and Malachi Georges (Teaneck, N.J.). Ordonez makes his second international tournament appearance for the USA in Liverpool and will box Mexico's Kevin Davila in bout nine of session two in Ring A. Georges will conclude the action for Team USA on day one and will do so in Ring A, bout 15, against Estonia's Stiven Aas.
Moving on to day two of the 2025 World Boxing Championships on Friday, September 5, Team USA will have three boxers competing, including two Paris 2024 Olympians. Alyssa Mendoza (Caldwell, Idaho) will get things started in bout two of Friday's opening session and will square off against a fellow Paris 2024 Olympian, Colombia's Valeria Arboleda Mendoza, in Ring B. Morelle McCane (Cleveland, Ohio) will then step onto the canvas in Ring B for the morning session against England's Sacha Hickey, a 2024 European U-23 gold medalist and World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 gold medalist.
After America's two Olympians compete in the morning session, Team USA's Super Heavyweight Kelvin Watts (Chesapeake, Va.), a two-time international medalist, will square off with Lithuania's Algirdas Baniulis in the evening session in Ring A, bout 11.
Team USA will then have three Olympians entering the ring on September 6, as women's 51-kilogram competitor Jennifer Lozano (Laredo, Texas) will box India's Nikhat Zareen, a two-time World Champion and 2024 Olympian. Also, boxing day three will be Naomi Graham (Fayetteville, N.C.) against Spain's D Mas Martinez in a women's 75-kilogram matchup and Jajaira Gonzlez (Glendora, Calif.) against Slovakia's Miroslava Jedinakova for a women's 60-kilogram showdown.
USA's 2021 World Champion Robby "Rahim" Gonzales (Las Vegas, Nev.) will return to the World Championship stage in the 80-kilogram division after winning gold back in Serbia. Now, he will look to win another gold medal and will begin his journey against Cuba's Jorge Soto on September 7. Boxing later in the evening session and making her international debut is the USA's women's 70-kilogram representative Isabella Winkler (Seattle, Wash.), who will box Turkey's Sema Caliskan.
To conclude the first and second round matchups from the draw this evening, Yoseline Perez (Houston, Texas) earned a bye after her dominant 2025 campaign and will face the winner of Ireland's Jennifer Lehane and Poland's Wiktoria Rogalinska on September 8.
