Former Philippines IBF Asia and WBC Asia champion Adones Cabalquinto has signed and is confirmed to fight former Australian and WBA Oceania champion Qamil Balla, according to Australia Hall of Fame promoter Peter Maniatis.

The bout will serve as the co-main event to a fight featuring former WBA World Heavyweight champion Lucas Browne. Browne holds the distinction of being the only Australian heavyweight world champion in history, having defeated Ruslan Chagaev in Russia to win the title.

Browne is scheduled to face undefeated David Padovan, who has won all of his matches by knockout, on June 13th on a Peter Maniatis Events card.

The highly anticipated clash between Balla and Cabalquinto will precede the main event. Qamil Balla is trained by his father, Nuri, and comes from a talented boxing family. His brother, Ibrahim, is also a professional boxer, and their affairs are managed by Pierre Karam.

Promoter Peter Maniatis recalled his initial impression of Cabalquinto: “I was in Baguio when Freddie Roach was training Senator Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan in the same training camp. Adones Cabalquinto was there as a sparring partner for Amir Khan. I was impressed with Adones; he was competitive in his sparring with Amir Khan.”

This upcoming bout sets the stage for an intriguing contest between two experienced regional champions on a card headlined by a former world heavyweight titlist.
