HAMILTON, Ontario, Canada (April 9, 2025) – Canadian cruiserweight Ryan “The Bruiser” Rozicki (20-1-1, 19 KOs) suffered a torn bicep during training camp forcing him to withdraw from his scheduled May 3rd title fight against World Boxing Council (WBC) Cruiserweight World Champion Badou “The Ripper” Jack (20-1-1, 19 KOs).
“I'm going to be taking this time to rebuild my body and deal with the damage I did to it in the last 15 years of battles,” Rozicki said. “I just turned 30 so I’m far from finished. I will be back, that WBC title will be mine. All the best to the champion, Badou Jack. I wish you nothing but the best in defending your world title. I will be rooting for you, champ.”
Jack vs. Rozicki was part of a Riyadh Season’s card headlined by the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) versus William Scull (23-0, 9 KOs) for the Unified Super Middleweight World Championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Jack may still fight May 3rd against a different opponent.
“If there was no bad luck, we would have no luck at all when referring to this WBC world title quest,” Rozicki’s promoter Dan Otter (Three Lions Promotions) added. “In the end, it just adds more to the story; Rozicki will be world champion. It’s his destiny!”
The 30-year-old Rozicki, who has been the WBC’s mandatory, No. 1 contender since 2023, will be sidelined several months due to his injury.
