GOLDEN BOY FIGHT NIGHT ON DAZN: PRIEST VS. HOWARD UNDERCARD FEATURED GOLDEN BOY'S STAR PROSPECTS
COMMERCE, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2025) – In his first-ever headlining event, the still undefeated and new WBA Continental North America Super Middleweight Titleholder Eric Priest (15-0, 8 KOs), of Kansas City, Kansas, successfully defeated the tough Tyler "Hercules" Howard (20-2, 11 KOs), of Crossville, Tennessee. The 10-round middleweight fight went the distance, with the judges scoring the fight 100-90 unanimously for Priest. The event took place at The Commerce Casino & Hotel and was broadcast worldwide on DAZN. Golden Boy has pledged to donate all ticket sales of the event to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation to support the department through the destructive Los Angeles Wildfires.
"I felt great in there. Howard is a tough opponent; that's why they call him Hercules," said Eric Priest. "I rate my performance a B+ because there is always room for improvement. I trust in Oscar and Eric for the next step in my career, and I'll follow their direction. I felt like I was in my groove inside the ring; everything that I had practiced in the gym came through naturally."
In his Golden Boy debut, Jordan “The Patriot” Panthen (11-0, 10 KOs), of Honolulu, Hawaii, co-headlined Golden Boy Fight Night in a 10-round middleweight bout that went the distance against Columbia, South Carolina’s DeAundre “Dixianimal” Pettus (12-4, 7 KOs). Panthen sustained a cut over his left eye in round one and a cut at the top of his head in round five due to accidental headbutts and a small laceration on the bridge of his nose in round seven due to a punch. The judges scored the match unanimously in favor of Panthen with scores of 98-92, 100-90, and 97-93.
In another standout knockout performance, the Coachella Valley’s Grant Flores (8-0, 6 KOs) stopped the seasoned David “Lobo” Ramirez (17-4, 12 KOs), of Heredia, Costa Rica, in the second round. Flores, who had been in training camp with former world champion Israil Madrimov in Uzbekistan, quickly established dominance in the fight, forcing Ramirez to take a knee in the second round after a lethal body punch and uppercut combo at 2:59. A knockout star in the making, Cayden Griffiths (3-0, 3 KOs), who also represents the Coachella Valley, kept his prospect record intact against Scranton, Pennsylvania’s Marc “Hitman” Misiura (3-7-1, 1 KO). Scheduled for four rounds of super welterweight action, Griffiths finished business at 1:43 in the second round with a debilitating body punch that sent Misiura to the floor.
In a four-round bantamweight bout, Olympic trials medalist Jordan Fuentes (3-0), of Fresno, California, improved his record in his matchup against Charlotte, North Carolina’s Brandon Badilo (0-3-1). All three judges scored the bout 40-35 in favor of Fuentes. Opening the fight night, Cathedral City’s Leonardo “Bazooka” Sanchez (8-0, 6 KOs) participated in a six-round super featherweight bout against Joseph Cruz (10-12, 6 KOs), of Sonora, Mexico, that went the distance. Sanchez had some bright moments throughout the fight, cornering and landing key punches throughout the bout. All three judges scored the fight 60-54.
