SAN JOSE, CA (October 4, 2024) – Multiple-division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero was honored to participate in the 2024 San Jose Sports Hall of Fame induction media day this past Wednesday, October 2, at the SAP Center in San Jose. Guerrero joined fellow inductees Kerri Walsh Jennings, Olympic volleyball legend, and Mike Holmgren, renowned NFL coach, as they were celebrated ahead of their formal induction next month. San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan spoke on behalf of the inductees during the event, praising their outstanding contributions to sports and the community.
The official induction ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the SAP Center, where Guerrero, Walsh, Holmgren, and philanthropist John Arrillaga will be formally inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame.
Guerrero, a proud native of Gilroy, CA, has built a storied career in boxing, winning multiple world titles across different weight divisions. Known for his resilience and determination in the ring, while battling adversity outside the ring with his wife’s cancer battle, "The Ghost" has also been an active supporter of his community, making this honor especially meaningful.
“Being recognized alongside incredible athletes like Kerri Walsh and Mike Holmgren, as well as a visionary like John Arrillaga, is a tremendous honor,” said Guerrero. “Growing up in the Bay Area, these are the moments you dream of, and I’m incredibly proud to represent my hometown in the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame.”
Mayor Matt Mahan commended the 2024 inductees for their hard work, commitment, and the inspiration they've provided to future generations of athletes. Each inductee has left a lasting impact on the Bay Area and the world of sports.
The induction ceremony on November 13 promises to be a memorable night, as these remarkable individuals are officially welcomed into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame, celebrating their exceptional contributions to both sports and the local community.
