Kenny Demecillo will fight on hostile territory in Puerto Rico when he clashes with Kevin Gonzalez on June 15.

The 31-year-old Demecillo will return to the ring after 11 months of inactivity after losing his United States debut in August 5 last year.

Demecillo of Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, lost to Dominique Crowder in his latest fight in his foe's home city of Baltimore, Maryland. Crowder prevailed with a one-sided unanimous decision victory and remained undefeated in 15 bouts.

Demecillo now has 17 wins, 7 defeats, 10 knockouts, and two draws, while Gonzalez has a 26-1-1 record with 13 knockouts.

Demecillo's last win was over Kim Lindog of Bukidnon via unanimous decision on June 6 last year at South Cotabato.

Meanwhile, Gonzalez of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico is rated No. 6 in the World Boxing Association (WBA) super bantamweight division.

The Gonzalez-Demecillo bout will be held at the Coliseo Juan Aubin Cruz Abreu in Manati, Puerto Rico. It will serve as one of the undercard matches for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) world super flyweight title fight between Liam Paro and Subriel Matias which is the main event.

Demecillo, a native of Iligan City, will try to break a string of losses by Filipino boxers in Puerto Rico. World Boxing Council (WBC) world minimumweight champion Melvin Jerusalem lost his World Boxing Organization (WBO) world title belt in Puerto Rico’s capital of San Juan against Oscar Collazo by stoppage.

Another Filipino boxer Garen Diagan challenged Collazo months after but also lost via stoppage.
