ELIJAH GARCIA STOPS ARMANDO RESENDIZ IN 8

In the opening pay-per-view bout of the Canelo vs Charlo super middleweight undisputed championship at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Saturday (Sunday in Manila), rising 20-year-old middleweight Elijah Garcia of Glendale, Arizona won by 8th round TKO over volume-puncher Armando Resendiz of Mexico.

Elijah Garcia's combination of timing, power, and relentless aggression ultimately proved to be the deciding factors. Both fighters showcased their heart and determination, treating fans to a memorable all-action bout. Elijah Garcia's future in the middleweight division looks promising, and fight enthusiasts eagerly anticipate his next steps in his quest for a world championship.

Round 1: As the opening bell rang, Garcia, donning green trunks, and Resendiz, in red, wasted no time engaging each other in the center of the ring. Both fighters immediately unleashed a barrage of punches, showing their eagerness to assert dominance. The southpaw Garcia, found himself tagged by a sharp jab and a powerful left hook from Resendiz towards the end of the round, setting the tone for an intense contest.

Round 2: Garcia took control of the tempo in the second round with a persistent jab that disrupted Resendiz's rhythm. Resendiz, however, responded with well-executed combinations, showcasing the art of punching and counter-punching. It was a round filled with action, with both combatants displaying their determination. Resendiz connected with some hard shots, but Garcia, showing tremendous heart, refused to back down.

Round 3: The third round saw Garcia initiating with a crisp one-two combination early on. He continued to land clean lefts, displaying his superior timing. Resendiz countered with his own relentless combos, and the fight turned into a toe-to-toe battle in the center of the ring. Both fighters threw over a hundred punches each during this thrilling round.

Round 4: In the fourth round, Garcia unleashed a looping left that connected with the top of Resendiz's head. He followed it up with a series of one-twos, keeping the pressure on. Resendiz, undeterred, fired back with a flurry of his own. Punches from both fighters were finding their mark, creating a high-intensity showdown.

Round 5: Garcia showcased his boxing finesse in the fifth round, landing a well-executed left uppercut to Resendiz's chin. While Garcia displayed better timing, Resendiz continued to unleash a high volume of punches, making it a round marked by a constant exchange of blows.

Round 6: In the sixth round, Garcia continued to impress with a three-punch combo, while Resendiz persistently threw punches but struggled to connect effectively. Garcia's impeccable timing allowed him to land significant shots over Resendiz. However, Resendiz managed to connect with a left-right combination towards the end of the round.

Round 7: Garcia kicked off the seventh round with an overhand left to the head of Resendiz, signaling his intent to maintain control. He followed it up with a beautiful three-punch combo upstairs. Resendiz showed signs of slowing down, but he closed the round with a fiery flurry, emphasizing his determination.

Round 8: The eighth round brought the fight back to the center of the ring, as both fighters engaged in their trademark toe-to-toe exchanges. Garcia, displaying a blend of power and precision, executed a devastating left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head. Resendiz hit the canvas for the first time in his career, and although he managed to beat the count, Garcia pounced on him with lethal punches. Referee Tony Weeks stepped in to stop the fight, declaring Garcia the victor via TKO at 1:23 of the eighth round. It was a memorable victory for Garcia and the first time Resendiz had been stopped in his professional career.

Garcia improves his record to 16-0 with 13 wins inside the distance while Resendiz drops to 14-2, 10KOs.
