
City of Naga to host Pilipinas Super League/Unisol 18-under Visayas Qualifiers

CEBU, Philippines - The City of Naga will host the inaugural season of the Pilipinas Super League (PSL)/Unisol 18-under Visayas Qualifiers basketball tournament starting Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Enan Chiong Activity Center (ECAC).
Some 14 teams have confirmed their participation in this tournament that serves as qualifying rounds for the regional stage. The teams are divided into two brackets where the top four from each group advance to the next round.
Bracket A will be composed of GSports, Consolacion Black Shama, Air21 Carcar, Datu Omendig/JMDJ, Yati San Vicente Liloan, Sherilin Khalifa-City of Naga and 4PS Partylist while Bracket B will be competed by Dream Architects, Danao, UC, La Paz Leyte, Basak-Lapu-Lapu, Bentranco/Metro Cars Bohol and GM Seafront.
The parade of all participating teams will kick off the opening ceremony before host Naga Sherilin-Khalifa will play against Lilo-an in the opening match starting at 10 in the morning.
No less than City of Naga Mayor Val Chiong will be invited as a guest of honor in this undertaking.
Air21 Carcar and Consolacion Black Shama collide at 11am while visiting La Paz Leyte is set to test the mettle of the Danao squad. In the main match of the day, Dream Architects will face Bentranco Metrocars Bohol at 2:30 pm.
The tournament will follow a single round-robin in each bracket to determine the top four from each group.
On the following day, March 26, only two games will be played. The Boholanos will meet another visiting squad La Paz Leyte at 9 o’clock in the morning while GSports tangles with Datu Omendig at 10:30 am.
Meanwhile, PSL organizers headed by no less than former Gilas member Marc Pingris expressed their gratitude and thanks to the administration of Mayor Chong for hosting this event.
Pingris is the commissioner of the PSL while Chelito Caro is his deputy commissioner with Rocky Chan as president. JBM
