"The Ripper" Badou Jack dropped and STOPPED Ilunga ‘Junior’ Makabu of Congo IN THE LAST ROUND to become THE NEW WBC Cruiserweight World Champion Sunday, February 26, at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia live on ESPN+.
Badou rocked the strong Makabu down in rounds 4 and 11, before his lethal attack in round 12 prompted British referee Mark Lyson to halt the uneven war.
With the exciting win the veteran 39-year-old Badou Jack, born in Sweden to a Gambian father, becomes a 3-division world champion, reigniting his career at 39.
Badou Jack celebrates the victory with his family.
Badou has already been a champ at 168, 175, and today he is the reigning champion at 200.
From the sound of the first bell, Badou Jack was the more precise and strong fighter, displaying the superior boxing skills that eventually brought him to the TKO win.
He achieved that at the 54-second-mark of round 12.
A devoted Muslim and a former Olympian, the popular Badou Jack was born in Stockholm, Sweden, now lives in Dubai, United Araba Emirates.
Congratulations to THE NEW!!
